Drink up!

Hey! I know I know, it’s been a while since I wrote anything on here recently.. ;( I’ve been so busy this summer that I’ve hardly had time to pop open the ‘ol computer! Thank goodness for 3G Blackberries

I’ve discovered this delicious super healthy drink and thought who better to share it with than you so here goes… WARNING: It’s not for everyone..

Kale Juice

Kale Juice

This is an incredibly healthy, refreshing way to start your day. Kale is full of calcium and antioxidants and just about everything else—it’s one of the best things you can put into your system. When juiced with a bit of lemon and agave, kale turns into a sort-of grassy lemonade. No worries if you don’t have a juicer, a blender and a sieve do the trick.

1 bunch of kale, stems removed and leaves washed
the juice of 2 smallish lemons
1 1/2 tablespoons agave nectar
1/2 cup cold water

Combine everything in a blender and blitz until completely pureed. It might take a little bit of time and a shove to get it going. Strain the juice through a fine sieve into a bowl, pushing down on the solids with a kitchen spoon being sure to extract all the juice. Taste the juice and add a bit more lemon or agave if you think it needs it. Pour into a glass and drink up!

Beach Make-up

When shooting swimsuits on the beach I usually go for a heavier eye, because it’s okay if it gets a little messy. But you should never do an elaborate lip. That just doesn’t look natural in the sand and water. It’s also best to use an SPF balm rather than a gloss. A glossy sheen on your lips can attract the suns rays causing them to chap or even burn. On my face I’ll opt for a touch of liquid bronzer rather than a heavy foundation. For the cheeks I’ll use a bit of frosty pink or peach cream blush on the apples of my cheeks… and always sunscreeen!!

Recent Shoot

So I did a shoot with Kris Josef last friday night.. I did my own make-up and brought a few outfits along.. I decide to rebel against the directions that were givin to me and figured I could find the place without any difficulties.. turns out I was wrong.. I tried to do a little off roading to get there refusing to call for directions, especially since Kris has his directions posted via web page that says in big bold letters *** PRINT THIS BEFORE LEAVING FOR YOUR SHOOT – YOU WILL NEED THE INFO ON IT ***.. I now know why.. and ended up having to make the call..

Once I got there we began shooting.. and I also began causing some chaos.. I tripped into his backdrop tearing a giant rip across the thing.. I came extremely close to actually falling right through the backdrop while trying to be a superhero posing on one foot in heels.. and finally, I caused a light to fall over.. but thankfully it didn’t break.. phew!

Anyways we did manage to capture some really cool shots.. here’s a couple of ‘em

Alexander McQueen produced some of the most beautiful, shocking images in the history of fashion. McQueen’s early runway collections developed his reputation for controversy and shock tactics. His creativity, originality and impeccable tailoring were one of a kind!

The death of McQueen’s mother last week seems to be the cause. It would undoubtedly have taken away his most vital support. McQueen was the youngest of six children

He was scheduled to show his fall 2010 line in Paris in March. He will be missed.

Just another days work..

Yesterday I worked with Photographer Vasko Miokovic and did make up for the lovely Kesha Lynn Stevens. We shot it all at the Gladstone Hotel on Queen Street. I couldn’t believe how nice it was! It was my first time inside that hotel and it’s really quite nice. All the rooms have a different themes and are done up by different designers and artists. We shot in the Canadiana Room and it gave us a variety of backgrounds to use..

I personally wanted to swing from the chandelier, but after close inspection I didn’t think it would be a good idea.. isn’t it cool? It’s made out of antlers! Made me wanna drink some jagger
